Tests for 8 year olds longer than the SAT?

If it takes 6 days- a total of 7 hours (9 hours if a child has an IEP) for a test to determine what my 8 year old knows about reading and math, I’m going to call bullshit.

It doesn’t take that long to assess a child’s knowledge.

So, what are these tests actually testing?

-how long a child can sit down and sustain focus on boring, convoluted and poorly written test questions?

-how an 8 year old can determine what’s the ‘most correct’ answer- and there will be other answers that are ‘plausibly correct’?

-field test questions that Pearson wants to try out?

No thanks. My family has made the choice to opt our child out of high stakes testing. You can too!
