Helping children and families impacted by Sandy (NYC)

I was so saddened to see the devastation that many communities in the North East (and the Caribbean) experienced by Super storm Sandy at the end of October. I volunteered at an evacuation shelter nearby and was very humbled by the great needs of the elderly nursing home evacuees and the commitment of the volunteers who worked literally 24/7 to provide care and comfort to them.

I wanted to do something specifically for children and families with young children that were impacted by Sandy. This opportunity came about when I learned about the damage to Community Parents Head Start program in Far Rockaway (Queens, NY).
